Mayor Michael C. Kalnick has served the community of Kings Point, where he has lived for more than 40 years, in a variety of roles, including village trustee, deputy mayor and as a member and chairman of the Board of Appeals. He is also a member and chairman of the LOSAP (Length of Service Award Program) for the Alert Fire Company and is a director and chairperson of the Water Authority of Great Neck North. Michael Kalnick is a senior partner in the law firm of Kalnick, Klee & Green, LLP in New York City. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce, University of Pennsylvania, where he majored in accounting, and a Juris Doctor from the New York University School of Law.
Deputy Mayor David Harounian, a resident of Kings Point for 40 years, serves on the village’s Architectural Review Committee. He has been instrumental in establishing three Iranian synagogues in Great Neck and previously served on the board of Temple Israel of Great Neck, where he chairs the President's Advisory Board. He has been influential in establishing schools for children of rug weavers in Pakistan and India, creating institutions for the care and education of Israeli soldiers and children and has been recognized for numerous philanthropic projects by various agencies in the United States and abroad. In the mid-1960s, Village Trustee David Harounian established the American Orient Company of New York, which manufactures and imports hand-made Oriental Rugs. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
A dedicated public servant, Trustee Sheldon Kwiat is currently chairman of the village’s Landmarks Preservation Commission and Architectural Review Board. President of Kwiat, a family-owned diamond jewelry firm that dates back to 1907, he held a position on the board of governors of the Gemological Institute of America for a maximum term of 12 years. He has also served on the executive board of directors of the Diamond Manufacturers and Importers Association and has been a member of the board of directors of the Jewelers Vigilance Committee and the Jewelers Security Alliance, where he served as chairman. Village Trustee Sheldon Kwiat was previously vice-chairman of YAI / National Institute of People with Disabilities. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce, University of Pennsylvania.
Trustee Ron Horowitz, a Kings Point resident for more than 25 years, is also a member of the village’s Architectural Review Committee. An accomplished attorney and real estate developer, he is chief executive officer of the Birchwood Organization, a third generation real estate development company with business interests in New York, Maryland and Virginia. He serves as an associate trustee of the North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System Village Trustee Ron Horowitz holds a Bachelor of Science from Boston University School of Management and Juris Doctor from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.
Village of Kings Point Trustee Hooshang Nematzadeh, a resident of Kings Point for nearly 20 years, is also a member of the village’s Planning Board, where he brings an engineering background and extensive real estate development experience as president of Nemat Homes Inc.
In his dedication to public service, he is immediate past president and an active member of the Great Neck Chamber of Commerce. He also serves his community as former Executive Vice President of the Iranian American Jewish Federation of New York and the United Mashadi Jewish Community of America.
Trustee Hooshang Nematzadeh holds a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Bridgeport.
